Went to gym today for weight training including stairmill, which won't be in the step count.
The Chinese lantern festival of 2026 is on March 3rd. Last night when I was walking I aimed my phone cam at the moon.
I noticed it being almost a full-moon, then I realized the lantern festival must be either today or tomorrow.
Since the Chinese New Year always falls on a new moon day (that's why it is called a lunar calendar 🙄), then 15 days after it must be a full moon day. If you ChatGPT it, on this day the meal (or snack) would include a sweet rice ball porridge. It is very easy to make.
I drove to the nearest H-Mart, bought the last pack of this:
Although it is shown as dark purple color on the cover, the rice balls themselves are not:
But don't be deceived just yet, because after boiling it became purple-ish. That's because the magical purple sticky rice behaves that way, there is no artificial food-coloring involved though.
The rice balls are not always purple sticky rice, most of the time we buy the regular sticky rice which is white. What is in the filling is more important. The sesame filling is the best, I wouldn't recommend any other fillings, especially stay away from the peanut fillings. For those concerned about their blood sugar levels, my recommendation is you treat rice balls the same way you would donuts.
The lantern festival as an occasion to eat this delicious sweet food is not bad. Also there are supposed to be lights, but our lights installed since Thanksgiving, all through Christmas and New Year's should be good enough.
.... and, time to take a walk.
That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by. Stay fit and cheers 🍻🎉 for the fitness!
