I was shocked to see the news from a YouTube video that the Unitree R1 humanoid robot will sell for just $5900!
This video is from the AI Revolution YouTube channel which has 429K subscribers and was released yesterday. It already has 70K views.
This robot looks and moves a lot like a teenage human. It is only about 4 feet tall but it can walk, run, jump, flip and do cartwheels. The robot has AI which powers it's abilities and allows it to be interactive.
In addition to it's excellent mobility, it also has a vision system and voice recognition. There is a Software Development Kit (SDK) to allow educators and experimenters to add more capability via software. This robot seems to have quite a lot going for it, and for such a low price!
But note these 2 things:
The robot does not have functioning hands, so it can't grip or manipulate things.
This product is not yet available to buy. It is just in the early stages of roll out and there is no specific release date.
One other thing that may be a factor for some - this is made and sold by a Chinese company. One should decide if that matters to them. The fear is that the robot could be collecting data for the government, or could be put in a remote controlled mode for use by the government. Anyone considering such a purchase can decide if they want to research this angle further.
So watch the video and let me know what You think!
My Activity
today was pretty good! I was active around the house, mostly indoors as it was hot again although not over 90 Fahrenheit as it has been. I had food to prepare and serve, among other daily activities.
I did do high knees and squats once each, during the afternoon.
At night I went for my usual walk and went close to a normal length even though it was humid out there. I managed to get over 10K today! That's a good number, for me.
Happy Wednesday to all my Human and Robot Friends!
😄❤️😄❤️😄❤️
