The Avengers are an original Punk Rock band from San Francisco. They formed in 1977 which was a big year for Punk. You had albums from The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash and Blondie hitting the record stores and these bands and many others were playing in clubs like CBGB.
This is straight up aggressive punk rock, and with a female singer! Her name was/is Penelope Houston. She has a really strong but clear clean voice.
This 4 piece band, the other 3 being guys, had a political stance and their lyrics reflected it. I'm not commenting on that, one way or the other. I just dig the power and the drive of The Avengers' music.
This song is called The American In Me. I'll quote some lyrics in a modified fashion but you'll get an idea of what you'll get if you hit the Play button. No cursing, just violent imagery which we still see on the news today!
It's the American in me that makes me watch the b....d running out of the b......t h..e in his head. It's the American in me that makes me watch TV. See on the news, this is what the man said. He said, ask not what you can do for your country, what your country been doing to you!
I say, ask what you can do for the people of your country and the world, but also be aware of what your country might be doing to you.
My Activity
for this Friday was apparently great! I scored over 12K which is pretty good for me.
I had some family business to attend to, and then I went to the food store to get a bunch of stuff for the holiday weekend and beyond. I did some squats and high knees during this time.
At night I got out for a pretty good walk in pretty good weather. So it was an active day.
Wishing You All A Great Weekend!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
