A few days ago Chuck Negron passed at the age of 83. He was one of the singers from the late 60s to mid 70s band Three Dog Night.
Chuck was the one singing on maybe their most popular song, Joy To The World. Do you know this oldie?
It starts off with
Jeremiah was a bullfrog
Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him drink his wine
Its kind of goofy but its a good time song about having fun. It was popular and probably needed at the time (1971) because the Viet Nam war was costing many lives.
Okay, Let's Hear It!
This is one version of Joy To The World on YouTube and it has 1.7 Million views.
Let's go back in time 2 years further, to 1969. Three Dog Night had a huge hit with One. It is about being solo, being one instead of two, because your significant other has gone.
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do.
This video has 5.2 Million views!
We see Chuck singing lead. We see his hair is shoulder length, as it is in Joy To The World. The other guys look like the Rolling Stones, with shorter shaggy hair. But Chuck has the same notable long hair and awesome mustache in each video.
RIP Chuck Negron!
If there's a rock and roll heaven, well you know they got a hell of a band.
Let's Live For Today
Today is a present and tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Show some love and respect today while you still can.
Peace!
