Started the day with the usual chores and a quick workout. Then, with coffee brewing, I headed outside to pull up solar lights and move other impediments from the yard before I take out my new homestead "toy" to cut the grass throughout my yard and beyond.
Spending the bare minimum on my morning writing session. I'm ready to gulp down my coffee then head outside before the sun gets too high in the sky and hot on my head.
---many hours later---
Finished the yard work after several sessions. I used my new field mower. It's basically a weed eater you push like a mower. I've never used one before. Took out 3 young willow trees I had rooted and planted last fall. Oops. But did make progress on taming the thick brush that was trying to take over. Not quite the same as pushing a lawn mower — more stop and go — but still a decent workout and resulted in a good step count.
Photo: This is all that remains of the largest thistle I've ever seen. We have thistles throughout the property but this one reminded me of the Little Shop of Horrors. I was almost afraid to get close enough to chop it down. 😱 The field mower cut through it like a warm knife through butter. No worries.
Photo: It was cloudy some of the day but even more so in the evening. Rain is in the forecast. Glad I got the yard in decent shape.
