My little boy is ill. About three weeks ago we noticed blood in his urine and called the vet who told us it was quite common and to bring him in if he stopped urinating altogether, which he subsequently did.
After a week in the vets with a catheter he returned home with bags of drugs and immediately started coughing and wheezing and completely stopped eating and drinking. He caught flu!
Since then it's been daily visits ro the vets for rehydration, nebulising and more drugs as he's lost weight as well constantly having a runny nose and eyes and dribbling.
It's devastating to see him like this. He's only around two years old and a stray who'd been living in the garden, fighting the chickens for scraps the MiL throws out each evening and it took us three months to get close enough to start feeding him by hand.
He's survived homelessness, other stray cats and dogs, hunger and snakes so hopefully he's going to keep fighting to get over this flu and get his voracious appetite back.
For our part, we've tried every food edible for cats including fresh prawns and ham but although he sniffs it closely and looks like he wants to eat, even the smell makes him cough and splutter. I'm hoping this latest batch of anti-inflammatories will help make him well.
He's so lethargic at the moment and doesn't even want to chase his radio-controlled mouse.
...or play hide and seek. A game he isn't actually very good at!
So it's going to be down to love persistence and willpower.
It's odd how pets so quickly become such an intrinsic part of your life, even more remarkable considering until Milo came along, the wife hated cats and now she can't sleep without him cuddled up in his favourite spot between us each night!
That's it for today and it just remains for me to send best wishes to all and have an amazing weekend.
