It was a rather rainy day today but we headed out to the eighteen basket disc golf course to play a round with only four discs. When my son and I arrived we saw a friend of ours who was already there playing.
He joined us with for a round. He was playing with all his discs and had extra rags. My son broke down and used one of his rags to wipe wet discs around part way through the round.
I played without wiping my discs and ended up with a +2 score which I felt like was doing well considering the conditions. Our friend played at a +2 as well but my son was not doing as well and struggled a bit.
There were only a few times where I was struggling a bit. The wind was kicking up and I did not have a really stable disc, so I had to power down and try to compensate a lot for that. I almost went out of bounds into the road when the Sword disc turned in the headwind a bit too much.
Nobody lost anything in the river today so that was good. All in all it was a nice round for the conditions.
My rain jacket did not keep the water out as well as it used to. I washed it this afternoon with some waterproofing cleaner that is supposed to help fix the issue. I hope it works. It is likely to be raining again tomorrow and I would like to stay a bit more dry.
Here's how Doggie looked this morning:
He had a bit of a rough night and it rubbed off on everyone. Perhaps a bit too much spicy beef or something... need I say more?
In any case he seems better today.
Here's a really good video on the mental aspect of the disc golf game:
I think these are some of the best tips that I have come across and it seemed like it helped me a lot today out on the course. In a way I think it helps to apply this type of philosophy to a lot of other things that come up in life.
I did not have anything to do with making the video and are just sharing it here under the Youtube license.
