I road my e-bike down to the post office today to mail a package. I stopped by the river to see the view on the way back.
I fellow e-bike rider came up to me and started a conversation wondering how many watts my e-bike was. I couldn't remember at first but came up with 750 watts which I'm sure is right. His was 1500 watts.
We got to talking and I turns out this was his fifth e-bike. He had a lot of others lost or stollen. The last one was run over by a car. I asked him how that happened and it turned out he got in argument with someone at a convenience store. The person he was arguing with saw he had a dollar and wanted it. He told them that the dollar was for himself and turned to leave. As he was riding away the person ran him over with his car. I could not believed that could possibly happen over a dollar.
He spent $25,000 in hospital bills afterward.
In other news my son's friend got his car stolen down in the big city. He lost all his disc golf discs which were in the car too. It is hard to imagine how that could happen with all the anti-theft technology built into keys and cars now.
Well, I made it home safely on the e-bike without getting honked at this time, lol. I did a bit of walking too to get my 5K steps in.
I really hope that we can be nicer to each other. Maybe I live a bit of a sheltered life but it almost seems like a foreign land when I venture out the door sometimes.
