It was a bit rainy out on the disc golf course today. It was not as much fun to play in, but we did need the rain around here. It has been very dry for this area.
My friend won the round with a +6 score to my +8. It was a close round and a lot of fun to play.
I got a couple of new discs with my scrip that I won from the last tournament. I purchased an Axiom Fission Crave and a Westside Maiden.
The Fission Crave is max weight and pink and green. It was just perfect for my needs. It is often hard to find a disc that is just right because they are so popular that they get sold right away. I usually use this disc for straight throws in wooded areas. It flies very straight for me with a soft finish, and the color is excellent for spotting in the dark woods. Max weight is perfect for this disc because I don't throw it for distance and lighter Crave discs get tossed around in the wind a lot and are more difficult for me to get an accurate forehand throw with. (I would not recommend throwing this disc into a headwind or significantly fast crosswinds.)
I ended up throwing it a lot today because I wanted to see how it would fly. Usually, on the course we were playing, there are not a lot of times I would normally throw this disc because it can be touchy to control the distance it goes. It is one of the nicest Crave discs I have thrown, and I had to try it out. Usually, I don't like throwing a brand new disc in a scored round, but this was a casual round, and it felt nice to try it out.
I tried the new Maiden putter as well. I wanted to try something with a bit more glide for my circle one putter. I like the feel of the disc, but the plastic is a bit hard and not as good in wet conditions as my current putter. I'm going to have to try it out a bit more to see if it is something that I will like. As you use a disc more, it changes in grip and flight. There are a couple of other newer putters that I would like to try as well, but they did not have them in the store. Maybe next time they will stock them.
