As I walked along the riverbank, the early autumn leaves were just starting to change color, creating a beautiful tapestry of golds, reds, and greens. The sound of the water gently flowing over the stones added to the serene atmosphere. I passed by quaint cottages with their honey-colored stone and thatched roofs, many of which date back to the 17th-century. It felt like stepping back in time!
Along the way, I stopped at the Cotswold Motoring Museum, where I marveled at vintage cars and learned about the area’s rich transport history. The museum is housed in an old mill, which added to its charm. The staff were incredibly enthusiastic and passionate about the exhibits, which made the visit even more enjoyable.
Further along the trail, I encountered a lovely couple, John and Sarah, who were walking their dog, a friendly Labrador named Max. We struck up a conversation, and they shared stories about their own walking adventures in the Cotswolds. They recommended a hidden path that leads to the nearby village of Lower Slaughter, famous for its picturesque scenery and the tranquil River Eye.
As I continued on my walk, I admired the traditional dry stone walls and pastures dotted with sheep. The landscape was dotted with rolling hills, and I could see the iconic Broadway Tower in the distance, a delightful folly that dates back to the 18th century.
