As I wandered along the River Windrush, I admired the traditional Cotswold stone houses that line the banks. Many of these cottages date back to the 17th century, and some are even older. The craftsmanship is remarkable, with honey-colored stone that glows in the sunlight.
Continuing my walk, I met a lovely couple who were on holiday from London. They were exploring the area for the first time, and we struck up a conversation about their favorite spots. They had just visited the Motor Museum in Bourton, which showcases a fascinating collection of vintage cars.
As I made my way toward Upper Slaughter, I passed through fields dotted with grazing sheep and wildflowers. The quiet beauty of the countryside was a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life. The path was lined with ancient trees, and I felt a deep sense of peace as I walked.
In Upper Slaughter, I paused to take in the scenery and noticed a small, quaint church called St. Mary's. The architecture was stunning, and I learned it dates back to the 12th century. It was a reminder of the rich history embedded in this landscape.
The walk back to Bourton was just as lovely, with the golden hour providing a magical light for photography. I felt grateful for the chance to experience such beauty and for the interesting people I met along the way. Each walk holds its own stories and connections, and this one was no exception!
