Hello, friends and fitness trackers!
It is Sunday, May 17, 2026, and today my steps took me on a majestic journey back in time. After a very active day yesterday, I wanted to combine today’s movement with a bit of culture, architecture, and history. Where better to do that than the spectacular Hampton Court Palace? I spent my afternoon wandering around this historic royal residence and managed to lock in a solid 7,371 steps on my Actifit tracker.
Hampton Court Palace is always a breathtaking place to visit, but walking through it with the specific goal of staying active gives you a completely different perspective. Every courtyard, long corridor, and winding pathway offers something unique to look at, making the physical exertion feel effortless. The weather held up beautifully, offering a bright and clear afternoon that highlighted the rich red brickwork of the palace.
During my walk around the grounds, I spent some time near the Clore Learning Centre. I am always drawn to the artistic, creative corners of these heritage sites, and today was no exception. One of the highlights was seeing the stunning, intricate golden leaf art climbing up the brick archway. It looks like a glittering golden vine framing the entrance, and the way the afternoon sun hit the metallic surface was absolutely magical.
Just outside the centre, I also came across a fascinating metal sculpture of a crowned heraldic beast a lion or a mythical creature holding a shield, perfectly capturing the royal Tudor spirit of the palace. These creative touches bridge the gap between the ancient history of King Henry VIII's era and modern artistic expressions, making the entire walking route feel like an open-air museum.
Looking at my activity chart for today, you can see two distinct peaks. The first surge of steps happened late in the morning as I arrived and began exploring the main courtyards, and the second peak came later in the afternoon during my stroll around the gardens and the learning centre. While I didn't quite hit the 10k mark like yesterday, over 7,300 steps on a relaxed Sunday is a win in my book, especially when every step is surrounded by centuries of history.
Walking through places like Hampton Court reminds me that staying active is all about lifestyle integration. It doesn’t always have to be a strenuous run or a gym session; a thoughtful, exploratory walk through a beautiful location does wonders for both physical health and mental clarity.
It was the perfect way to wrap up the weekend and recharge my batteries for the week ahead. Did you take some time out for yourself today? Where did your steps take you this Sunday? Let me know in the comments below!
Keep moving, stay healthy, and see you all in the next report!
