You could say that consumerism consumes me. But it's not exactly my own consumerism, but rather people's eagerness to buy excessively at this time of year, crowding the streets, ATMs, and supermarkets, as if the end of the year were the end of the world.
I have avoided visiting the city center so as not to run into crowds looking for places to spend their money on whatever they can find. Fortunately, I can find everything I need close to home, and although there will be no gifts this year, there will be special moments.

Se pudiera decir que el consumismo... me consume. Pero no es precisamente el propio, sino el afán de las personas en comprar desmedidamente en estas fechas, que atiborran calles, cajeros automáticos y supermercados, como el fin de año fuera más bien el fin del mundo.
Yo he evitado visitar el centro de la ciudad para no toparme con multitudes buscando espacios para gastar el dinero en cualquier cosa que le ofrezcan. Por fortuna, cerca de casa puedo encontrar todo lo necesario, y aunque este año no habrá regalos, si habrá momentos especiales.
