Hey Actifitters,
With the time change yesterday, we were up and about a little less late than usual. Good thing because the sky was blue and the sun shining!
Of course, Kaia and I walked around the yard first.
I noticed we had an audience. First this little squirrel that followed our every moves.
And a much bigger deer was looking at us from just behind the fence.
I tried to get closer and get a picture without the chicken wire on the way, but Kaia barked at him and he fled. So we just kept enjoying the sun for a while.
But the forecast mentioned clouds were on the way, so we made the best of it and once again continued past the front yard and towards the forest behind.
The blue sky, the sun and the last fall colors, it was just beautiful!
That's when Le Chat decided to join us, she was probably feeling left alone.
She led the way back to the house.
The rest of the afternoon was mostly about yard work. I've been pushing it back for weeks and I really needed to start cleaning up the leaves and prepare the yard for winter. While I was mowing and mulching, Kaia was just roaming around, as if she was never injured.
Le Chat was just observing, probably wondering what the hell I was doing.
I thought I finished just in time for a sunset walk, so we rushed to the golf course for a good view. Unfortunately the clouds had other ideas.
So we didn't stay too long and started our way back. Again we had an audience. I guess Kaia's very popular in the neighborhood!
This deer wasn't very interested though, and mostly ignored us when it crossed the street right in front of us.
This wasn't the last deer we saw. We heard some loud banging noises. Two deer were fighting just on the side of the street. I've seen deer fight like that a few times, but never so close. In the end, one of them hit a tree while backing up and decided it was time to give up and flee, with the other one chasing him.
The light was low and they were moving too fast, so all my pics were a bit blurry. I did shoot a cool video, and I just tried using the new video 3speak feature, but it didn't work for me. Maybe there are some limits on the file size, or some other restrictions. I'll try again some other day.
Quite an eventful walk in the end. And we weren't done. Looking back, I saw the sky was now entirely on fire! Not easy to catch with all the obstacles but impressive!
It was too late to turn back, so I rushed home, thinking we may be able to quickly drive to a good viewpoint. It was a bit too late though. The last pinkish hues were nice nonetheless.
And that was it. With sun, activity, a few remaining fall colors, sunset and wildlife, it was a good day! Probably my best step count in weeks, thanks to yard work. And for Kaia, two days in a row with longer walks. Like I said, this looks good for her recovery. Onto the new week now!
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
