We have been trying to increase our step count and elevation gain as we are hoping to tackle a serious hike in the coming weeks.
Being on holiday makes it a little easier to achieve this. First up in the morning was a solid twelve kilometre run with a little walking up a few of steep hills.
After the workout it was back to the accomadation for a shower and some food to refuel. This plan workout out well as the weather turned bad and the break gave time for some rain clouds to pass.
Our afternoon exploring activity was a walk to Karangahape road which is known for it's trendy shopping, we did not make any purchases but it was an interesting place to checkout and people watch.
Being a Sunday lots of the high end shops were closed but was able to find a few second hand opportunity shops to explore.
On the way back we had to keep or eye on the weather but the rain had mostly past and we enjoyed walking through Myers park.
There was a cultural area too complete with some sort of dance festival.
There was also a Christmas parade on.
It was all happening.
There is always so many areas to explore in a new city we have not been too before. We like to allow enough time to sort of have one day on foot going to different compass point directions. Like one day north another day south.
In the end our legs and feet knew we had covered the 20k plus steps and 500 meters of elevation gain. Which should help nicely to build up a bit of strength and fitness.
