We saw a Kookaburra in the nature reserve it was making this strange sound we had never heard before. Not the usually laughing sound but some sort of angry or defensive sound and flying around crazy like.
We had a bit of a look around but could not see any unusual until we turned a corner to head down a single track trail.
Then It all became obvious that this big goanna was climbing a tree which must have had the Kookaburra's nest in.
A quick google search told us these birds nest in the spring, which is right now in the southern hemisphere.
We could not actually see the nest as they like to nest in tree hollows or terminate mounds. We just let nature be and were not sure of the outcome, but either creatures were there on the return leg of our walk.
