My student life journey began on a February morning in 2019—a morning that was so cold, it felt like the wind had put on a coat! As soon as we got off the airport, the university bus arrived to pick us up. The distance from Nanjing to the university was two hours—meaning there was no time to finish a single Netflix movie (although I did get more sleep on the bus).
Seeing a Chinese city so close for the first time through the bus window felt like I was sitting on a movie set. The road was quiet—no bus horns, no rickshaw pullers calling out “Are you going to live?” type calls. Slowly, the gate of NUIST University came into view—the gate I had seen a thousand times on YouTube, but this time in a live HD version!
As soon as I got off the bus, the cold embraced me as if an old lover had suddenly appeared to say “Hi.” Tiredness, sleep, fear—all at once. But at that moment, I realized—the journey in NUIST had begun. It was a short journey of 6 months on the main campus and then on another campus for the 4th year batch.
The four years I spent in Wuxi were like a movie—love, experience, and growing up within myself. My English is now fluent, and I've learned a little Chinese, enough to order at a restaurant.
