Amid the creaky charm of an old Berlin film studio, once the birthplace of the first sound movies, I spent the day immersed in cables, screens, and endless coffee cups. This once-grand space, now an event venue, echoed with the whispers of history as I set up video tech for an American client’s event. The day stretched out, every hour testing our patience, but there was no cutting corners with the agency rehearsing every little shit. Somewhere between hauling gear and tweaking screens, I stumbled upon a collection of vintage lamps hanging on the ceiling in one of the halls. That find was a nice bright spot in a day that seemed to go on forever, but it reminded me how much life lingers in these old walls. While the work dragged, the place itself told stories far more exciting than the long hours we slogged through.
