The morning was fresh and sweaty, the kind that clings to your skin after a night’s rain. Everything felt damp, the air heavy with humidity, the earth soaked in moisture. You could smell autumn being here in full, that familiar earthy scent signaling the season unmistakenly. I found myself by the river Spree, easing into meditation, stretching and breathing in the stillness. It was a quiet moment, a pause in the rush of life, the air swirling with peace. On my walk back, there they were, the chestnut heads, their shiny bald heads and their crazy grins scattered on the fences along the path. A group of three nestled together, almost waiting on a bench, as if they’d gathered just for me to say hello and shoot them for you to enjoy.
