It was a somewhat strange morning; out of habit, I accidentally grabbed the wrong set of keys—the one without the key for my bike lock. I didn’t realize this until I arrived at Jungfernheidepark, which meant I had to scratch my long morning walk from my schedule. Flexibility was called for, and just like that, I decided to take a long bike ride to Lake Tegel and past the old Tegel TXL airport, which ended up lasting a total of 4 hours. That’s fine, actually better in a way—I’d planned the ride anyway to scout out a spot for a paddling trip and find good launch sites for my canoe. In the process, I experienced a lot more than originally planned and expected and saw so much that would completely blow this post out of proportion, so I’ve limited myself to a few pictures and will just list what else was there. A small techno party in the northern part of Jungfernheide Park kicked things off, and I continued on to a pair of swans sleeping in the water, she in the nest and he right next to it. The German women’s canoe rowing team then docked at a really nice public “canoe harbor,” along with several other professional female rowers from a rowing club, including coaches bellowing through megaphones from motorboats. Various boat launch sites I hadn’t seen before, including some excellent, rather wild entry points perfect for my purposes. A very friendly beaver that came ashore to pose, simply adorable in the truest sense of the word. Discovered hidden beehives on a river bank, crossed various bridges, pointed out an open shoelace to a jogger, watched a swan and a heron playing canoe polo in their minds. Yes, it exists, canoe polo. That’s it for now. Enjoy the photos and have a relaxing time.

Ein irgendwie seltsamer Morgen, eine Gewohnheit liess mich versehentlich den falschen Schlüsselbund einstecken, nämlich den ohne den Schlüssel fürs Fahrradschloss. Dies erst bei Ankunft am Jungfernheidepark feststellend, strich mir meinen ausgiebigen Morningwalk aus meinem morgendlichen Plan. Flexibilität war gefragt und zack entschied ich eben, eine ausgedehnte Radtour zum Tegeler See und vorbei am alten Flughafen Tegel TXL zu machen, die am Ende dann insgesamt 4 Stunden lang war. Auch gut, besser sogar irgendwie, hatte die Tour eh vor, um für eine Paddeltour vorzuchecken und gute Einstiegsmöglichkeiten für mein Kanu zu finden. Dabei hab ich eine Menge mehr erlebt als ursprünglich geplant und erwartet und vieles gesehen, was diesen Post komplett sprengen würde, und daher hab ich mich auf ein paar Bilder beschränkt und zähle nur eben auf, was da sonst noch so war. Eine kleine Technoparty im nördlichen Teil des Jungfernheideparks machte den Anfang und weiter ging es mit einem im Wasser schlafenden Schwanenpärchen, sie im Nest und er daneben. Das deutsche Frauenkanuruderteam wasserte dann an einem richtig guten öffentlichen „Kanuhafen“ und diverse andere professionell rudernde Frauen von einem Ruderclub, alle inklusive in Megafon blökenden Trainern in Motorbooten. Diverse Bootsanlegestellen, die ich noch nicht kannte, und dabei auch einige sehr gute, eher wilde Einstiegsoptionen für meinen Zweck. Einen sehr freundlichen Bieber, der ans Ufer kam, um zu posieren, einfach putzig im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. An einem Ufer versteckte Bienenstöcke entdeckt, diverse Brücken überquert, einen Jogger auf seinen offenen Schnürsenkel aufmerksam gemacht, Schwan und Reiher beim Kanupolo im Kopf spielend beobachtet. Ja, das gibt es, Kanupolo. So gut jetzt. Genießt die Fotos und habt eine entspannte Zeit.
