After dropping Frankie off at school for his keeping in touch session, Judy and I took Hector for a long walk in the forest. We'd arranged our work schedules around doing this. It's a rare treat for us to be able to go on a longer walk together these days.
Judy is keen for us all to get fitter (so tomorrow we may try the same walk in the early evening but this time with Frankie too). So we headed out at quite a pace and ended up being faster than Hector most of the time as he stopped to sniff and leave his scent.
Along the way we reminisced about walking here years ago when we had our two Labradors (Maisie and Pidge).
At one point we stopped in a crook of the valley turn, to watch the buzzards circling and crying as they ride the thermals. It was very calming to be out there with them.
On our return we bumped into two old guys with nets, who turned out to be the men who run Gwent Wildlife out on a butterfly survey. We chatted for quite a while, and then it was time to go and pick Frankie up from school.
The day became even sunnier, and we mowed the lawn and orchard when we got home. A glorious and calming day.
