Oh, joy. The first real snowfall of the year. The garden’s only about half prepped for winter, bulbs have not yet been planted, and the lawn could use one more mowing. But Mother Nature had other ideas.
The “light snow” that had been yesterday’s forecast turned into today’s winter storm warning. I was out doing some shopping earlier today and the roads were a mess. I briefly lost control on a curve even though I was going well under the speed limit. I regained control in a few seconds, but others weren’t so lucky. I saw a car that had apparently tried what’s usually an easy turn onto a residential street only to skid into a tree and sustain serious front-end damage.
So much of my physical activity for the day came from clearing 6 to 7 inches of heavy wet snow from the driveway and walk. Not exactly ideal exercise for a somewhat pudgy 65-year-old with a family history of heart disease. So I take it slow. Work for a few minutes, rest for a few minutes, work for a few minutes, rest for a few minutes, work for a few minutes, rest for a few minutes…
