This has to be the game of the week given the value of those three points for both sides. United were looking to make sure they belong to the top four. With the wins they managed recently and the way the team is playing, it was definitely a positive sign. Arsenal, on the other hand, did not want to lose the momentum they built since the start of the league.
A slip here would be really costly for Arsenal. But, they did not have to worry about that as they beat United 3-2 at home. They are not 5 points clear on top with a game still to play. United now has to make sure they fight to get into the top four. It would not be as easy.
Arteta must be over the moon as Nketiah scored the 90 mins winner. It is the team’s mindset that made this happen. I was reading somewhere that this is only the second time after Thiery Henry in the 2000s that Arsenal beat United after a 90 min goal. Interesting times for Arsenal.
United played nice and scored the first goal. Arsenal managed to score two more but United came back with the Martinez goal. But, the final was the only difference between those two teams.
It is a crucial period in the league now for the momentum building. City thrashed Spurs this week. That should be a confidence booster for Pepe's squad. The only team looking to hamper Arsenal’s momentum is City at the moment.
