This whole morning I was chasing after a couple of butterflies. It had rained all night and it was still cold and cloudy this morning. This meant that I had a lot of garden time since I didn't have to water the plants.Just running behind butterflies brought so many of my childhood memories back.
The cabbage butterfly was hiding around, they are so common, colorless and very difficult to see or photograph. I tried all I could but just couldn't get one decent image of that nasty guy. Grapes are certainly sour at part of the day in my garden. He just flew away to some place better.
Admiring my new bougainvillea of many colors that would have put Jacob's coat to shame I noticed a tiny moment from the corner of my eye. Another butterfly! How lovely! he was cold, too cold that he had to warm his wings before he could fly. I had all the time in the world to get closer, adjust the shot an get a series of images.
Nah, no such luck, the phone rang just then and the butterfly flew away. I was admiring the raindrops on the leaves and the beautiful hibiscus which was still opening. The raindrops on the hibiscus made me stop and get a few photographs. The color of this flower so vibrant and magical never fails to captivate me.
As I turned to walk away I saw the butterfly flit past me again. I chased after it until I could get some pictures. This guy first settled on a succulent but flew away to the other end of the garden making me chase him all over again.
Now, he settled on the mango tree, I guess this was more cozy for him as he stretched his wings and made himself comfortable. He was still very wary of me and kept turning around, revolving in circular motion. I stood still until he decided that I was a part of the fixture there and became still enjoying the warmth of the sun.
Finally, I could take a few pictures, I let him enjoy the sun in peace. What a morning it was when I could relax and do my own thing without having to rush through the watering and the weeding. Yeah, with the rains come these special gifts called weeds in abundance.
I noticed a feather stuck in my bunny ears cactus. I grabbed a picture and ran back to feed a hungry bunch of boys some much requested mug cakes for breakfast.
I enjoy these lazy Saturdays when I can do my own thing. Perhaps I should make a habit of it, these slow days refills my energy for the week and gives me so much happiness and contentment, who needs anything more than that?
Hope you have a beautiful weekend.
