I’m really enjoying coaching my daughters basketball team. The first couple of weeks I’ve been the only coach there and since I’ve always been the head coach I am most comfortable operating like that.
I was telling my kids that management by committee is not something I’m fond of and that I think there always needs to be a single person that has ultimate authority and accountability. I primarily believe this because any leadership or management role requires a strategy be consistent in all activities and decisions. When multiple people are ‘in charge’ that can fall apart. It’s not that it will necessarily lead to negative results, but will almost always lead to sub optimized results.
This is not to say that the leader does not take advice or listen to opinions. In fact one art of leadership is in leading wile allowing those being led to feel they are part of the process.
I’m getting a little of track and the point of all this is to say for this team the other coaches are of the mentality we should all contribute to the strategy. I think one of us should design the strategy and the others support it.
I need to chill a bit on grade school basketball leadership, but my business life is that of a leader and I’m confronted by this kind of thing all the time.
In summary, spiritverve doesn’t play well with others. Lol
