Today started differently.
I slept a little longer than usual.
When I woke up I looked outside and felt a small moment of joy.
The sun was there.
Hidden behind clouds but breaking through in small gaps.
Right in that moment.
A good sign I thought.
Downstairs into the kitchen.
My wife had already finished her breakfast.
A coffee from the machine.
One slice of bread with jam.
Simple.
Then out the door.
Rain was forecast for midday.
So I wanted to finish a few errands before it arrived.
Step by step one after another.
Until the insurance office.
There it took longer than expected.
Waiting.
Time passing without movement.
When everything was done only one kilometer remained.
Home almost reached.
Then suddenly rain.
Out of nowhere.
And shortly after hail.
A minute later, it stopped again.
Cold. Wet. Wrong clothes.
I walked faster but it didn’t help.
No warmth returned.
Just distance getting shorter.
Now I sit here in a warm room.
And still I feel the cold.
What started warm ended cold.
Observed while moving. Left unfinished.
