Today was the first day we had snowfall here. Unfortunately it isn't quite enough to stay as snow. It started raining about an hour or two after the snow which has made it a sloppy mess.
Now I did walk the dog in the morning and evening. I also did a full walk around the park today to take pictures to sort of describe cubieverse. That got me 17K steps.
However, the rest of this post is about Cubieverse. The app that gives me the most incentive to walk every day.
First
Playing cubieverse is easy and requires no money to play. Just walk to a vault and answer a question then get a reward (cubiecoins -- crypto, resin and paint).
Today I screenshot a lot of the questions so you can get a feel for what "white" and "blue" questions are like:
Let's see how you do on Science questions :)
Now there are different categories to choose from if you don't like science questions but I thought I'd show those as they are prettier than ones like this.
What happens after you answer a question? Well, if you get it right this happens:
Notice the 77 cubiecoins? That would be 0.077HBD for answering one question from a blue vault. Now to open a vault you need keys. You get a few keys from logging in every day and more keys from walking with the app open.
As you can see from my key stash there are White, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, and Purple keys. Each key opens a vault of the same colour (white opens white vault, blue opens blue vault, etc).
Each vault has a base payout rate but it does vary a bit.
White = 0.01HBD
Blue = 0.1 HBD
Green = 1 HBD
Yellow = 10 HBD
Red = 100 HBD
Purple = 1000 HBD
The more valuable the vault the harder the questions. Purple questions are super tough and usually only during very special events.
If you get the maximum number of keys a day and solve every vault perfectly you would get about $10 HBD daily for $300/month max although there are ways to increase the payout up to 20%
Drawback
The vaults drop less coin in less developed places. Canada and USA drop a lot. Philppines and El Salvador drop a lot less. The game calls it an "economic viability factor" ranging from 10% (Philippines) to 100% (United States). So, an American could make $300/month while a Nigerian could make $30/month.
based on solving vaults only
There are two other ways to make money in the game: Building the world and Selling in game items. Both can be lucrative.
Now I was going to end there for today but I'll briefly tell a bit about my topics for the next could days.
Second : Metaverse and building
It's a Metaverse game which means that the game map is a copy of the real world. The game also lets me "build" structures in the game. I "built" a white vault outside my home. I can answer questions from it from my living room couch (twice daily) but it now exists in the game world so anyone can answer questions from it.
So here is a real world image from my phone.:
Notice the bridge going over the lake?
Now here is the image from the game.
Notice how my icon is looking at the bridge going over the water in the game? Notice the white vault on the bridge? If I walk over the bridge I'll get to the white vault so I can solve it.
"Do you need to play with someone in the game"
The answer is NO... you don't have to play with someone in the game. However, if a lot of people are playing nearby there will be a lot more vaults to solve and everyone makes more money. If you are the only one playing it takes a very very long time to build up the area to make for efficient collecting of cubiecoins (make money).
Question #2: Do I have to find a place like what's on the screen to find the vault? No. The game uses your GPS to locate you and show a representation of your area. Vaults show up in shopping areas, parks and other areas of interest and they will ALWAYS be in the same place every day.
10 Players making 5 vaults each will be enough to make the maximum hunting ground
although levelling up those vaults and placing them in the right spots will take a lot of time and effort.
asked me to tag him so I could go over the good and bad of the game. I'll explain each point in more detail over the coming days.
Downpoint #1 : Less developed countries get lower payout. In least developed areas it is only possible to get about $30 HBD from solving vaults. Working buildings and working the marketplace could easy make that over $100 HBD per month (which I hear isn't terrible in Nigeria) but still not as good as people in Canada/USA make.
In order to make the maximum money there is a certain amount of building that needs to be done. Most buildings require purchases with real money. YOU don't have to be the one to pay the money but some player in your area does (more on that in a later post)
Finally in order to get your location data your phone has to have data and GPS location on. No Data means No Game. It isn't a huge amount of data but I know that every expense is precious in Nigeria (I'm assuming that's where you are from).
So...my final thought for this post is for who mentioned that games rarely pay enough to be worthwhile.
My Question for you:
Assuming you had to grind for two hours a day walking about 1hr in the morning and one in the evening. During that time you answer questions and at the end of the month you get $80HBD.
would that be worthwhile?
I know you have said that jobs are scarce and money precious in Nigeria...but then again...It's a lot of walking for only $80 HBD (Actually USD but close enough).
Curious about your thoughts..
.... and I'll post some more screenshot versus real life pictures tomorrow when I talk about building structures :)
Thanks for dropping by.
Until tomorrow.
