I haven't walked the dog in far too long. Today isn't exactly the best day for doing it. The snow is melting but still around. The roads are slippery from a mix of ice, snow, and rain. Overall its a sloppy mess.
The roads are bad and I certainly wouldn't want to be driving on them right now. Like this poor guy who got high centered on the snow in the middle of the road. People in the rest of Canada laugh at us here because we hate driving in the snow. The problem here compared to everywhere else... we get rain on top of the snow...extra slippery.
Now the park I usually walk through looks nice and snow covered. I sort of want to walk the dog through there but the paths are slippery and I'd really rather not fall when Niko decides to chase a squirrel or something like that. I do have snow boots with good traction but still...
One of the more interesting things about walking Niko in the snow. I can finally see the things he keeps sniffing at. For example...he always likes to sniff this patch. Usually it looks like nothing to me but today I can see the trail of whatever he's sniffing at (probably a opossum or raccoon).
Then when I get home its time to take care of the driveway. It was a slippery icy mess so...
I shovel the slush and add salt to keep the ice away. ]
After walking the dog and shovelling the driveway its time for a little rest, right? Nah. Time to make my post for #HiveLearners, then time to start prepping dinner (Coconut Mushroom Sausage Stew) and lunch (chicken nuggets). I'm really looking forward to when my son can fend for himself...I'm tired of cooking only for him.
Lunch is over. Dinner is cooking...Time for a rest?
No. My son really wants to put up some shelves and a mirror in his room. Ugh. I'm terrible at that kind of stuff. Unfortunately my son is worse. So we grab our tools such as they are and get to work.
Up goes the main shelf.
Then up goes the mirror and a side shelf.
It takes way too long (90 minutes) but we get it done and it looks fairly stable. Of course when my son says he wants to do pull-ups from the shelf I have to tell him the drywall screws are only good up to about 10kg.
Overall he is happy. That makes me happy. So time to sit for a bit before my wife comes home.
Except she has a short day and arrives home just as I'm finishing the shelves (doing the cleanup of tools).
So...chat with my wife. Do some errands she wants taken care of. Which is booking our Spring Vacation. Since its our last spring vacation before my son is an adult and likely unable to travel with us anymore she wants to make it a good one. I want to make it inexpensive.
It takes a bunch of looking for flight deals (impossible to find during spring break) but eventually we decide on a trip to Miami for a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas, then head to Fort Lauderdale to visit my wife's neice (and new baby) where we will spend 4 more nights at the beach where my son will take surfing lessons before flying back to Vancouver.
Hope that works out.
Then its time to walk the dog..again. Luckily when I get back the stew is ready to go after 6 hours in the crock pot. Glad I started it early :)
Have some dinner and finally get to rest for a bit watching a movie (or two) with my wife.
And that's it
Another day done.
Thanks for dropping by.
Until I do it all over again tomorrow :)
