Well it is my first day in Jakarta.
It's a very sad start. I'm in a Marriott Hotel with a wonderful free breakfast and because of my tooth extraction I get an omelette, chicken sausage and chicken soup with tofu.
Now they were tasty but still...I was looking at the doughnuts, croissant and other yummy things that I had to say no to.
Then it was off to the city to see the national monument and the path surrounding it.
Compared to Manila the roads were excellent.
The park was tropical and green. More greenery than I'm used to seeing in the Philippines by far.
As for the monument it was very large and imposing. Plus I forgot to load Actifit so I missed a bunch of steps walking around it.
But we enjoyed walking the grounds for sure. Seeing the pond and the memorial and more was great.
After the monument (Mouna) we went to the cathedral which was the first picture. Unfortunately it was closed. Likely because it was a prominent Christian holiday--Easter.
Then it was off to a different area with lots of public buildings and museum. We went to the bank museum which had lots of interesting information about Indonesia.
It told about how originally Indonesia was a huge part of the spice trade. It told about Japanese occupation. It told about staying a new currency and how bad management and financial issues led to riots in the streets.
Made me think just his useful the hive system is for currency.
Anyways while that was fun it was hot and we got tired. Not as tired as these poor horses though.
So we headed for home but hit up an alfamart for a bunch of drinks.
Now it was weird. In the Phillipines there were small drinks but always normal sized bottle openings. These had tiny bottle openings so really hard to drink from.
Price wise. Fairly cheap. So I stocked up especially because they were small sized containers at only 250ml.
Anyways. Dinner time came and we went to the restaurant in the hotel where I had limited options because of the extraction. Still they had mushroom soup I could eat. Surprisingly it was the best mushroom soup I've ever eaten so no complaints.
With the possible exception that I couldn't have this awesome drink because it's the seeds.
Still got my steps. Enjoyed the day. And no dry socket like last time. I'll take that as a win.
Until tomorrow. Thanks for dropping by
