Well this morning started off early with me having to leave the hotel room I was in for the last week. It was a good room but tonight I get onto the plane to go back home. I wanted to be as close as possible to the airport and I wanted to get a short time hotel so I wouldn't have to pay a high rate for a partial day.
Things started off with me finishing the last of my laundry and it went looking for pandesal. The Baker was closed so early in the morning so I went on a hike.
It was a nice quiet street so why not. I found a transient house which was quite inexpensive which might be worth checking out next time.
Although I'm pretty sure my wife and my in-laws would say I'm crazy ;)
I also found a relatively inexpensive water dispenser.
And I had to laugh when it was this dog doing his lookout from high above.
And after that I found a mobile pandesal bakery, how cool is that?
Soon after that everything was packed and ready to go so I headed to the Sogo hotel Macapagal. Now the Sogo is nice because there are no set check in and check out times plus they have short term rates so I can stay for a few hours before my flight at a reduced rate.
If they have a room available
And they did but only their executive suite which was more expensive short time then my old hotel room.
Grrr
So I decided to walk to the nearest hotel
Well it was supposed to be this hotel....
But it is no longer in operation.
This hotel looked interesting but I couldn't really cross the road
This hotel looked nice but when I inquired about the rate it was way more money than it should be.
And this hotel which doesn't have private washroom was twice the price of my previous room or more. Weird.
So I walked.
Through an area with lots of buses..
And ramshackle little pop up stores.
Then turned into a major thoroughfare.
That kept going
And going
And going..
But eventually the road narrowed and I crossed over a river.
Polluted and icky but still a river.
Then the streets got narrower. Fewer cars but lots of people.
Then the streets got really narrow...
And finally I made it... Hot and sticky... To the hotel... Which charged me an early check in fee.. but it was still cheaper than the Sogo.
And my poor shirt was soaked :(
After that it was rest time for a while... Then another walk to get pasalubong. I really really didn't want to buy I think my wife expects it so.....
Off shopping at Puregold ... More steps for the day.
Right now? The day isn't over yet but it's getting late and I'll have to walk to the airport in 90 minutes for a super late flight 1am .. and total transit time is 31 hours... So it is going to be a very long long day before I get up lay on my bed at home.
Looking forward to that...
