Well, today was my first day at work in over two months. I like to think that I am retired but I still pick up a couple of shifts here and there.
Ideally I'll be working the equivalent of two shifts a month. 24 days a year. The rationale? I'm a pharmacist. If I don't practice at least a little bit my skills will fall into disuse and I'll be worthless in the profession. Two days a month plus doing continuing education? Hopefully that is enough to keep me useful to the pharmacy. I'll give a person off every now and then. I'll be sharp enough to come in on short notice to cover illness or other essential days off.
But it is hard to return to work after almost 3 months off. I was absolutely rusty no doubt about that. There was a new phone system. The was a new faxing system and in general there was a learning curve just coming back to work.
I picked it up fast enough which was good.
As for getting my steps? I went for a morning with the dog and my wife. It was a nice day and leisurely walk.
After the walk we both had to go to work. I had a shorter a day so I also had to walk the dog in the evening also. Overall good for 10k steps.
However I'll admit I'm still horribly jet lagged. Tried to watch an anime after walking the dog and fell asleep right in the middle of it.
I'm looking forward to getting my body back to a normal routine but I have a feeling that could take a little while.
Oh well, just my life, not much I can do about it. Just keep plodding along. Get some hours at work. Get into a routine and things should straighten out in the long run.
Or at least I hope it will :)
Thanks for dropping by for today.
Until tomorrow :)
