Air travel kind of sucks.
The seats are cramped.
Security sucks. Taking everything out and putting it in trays, hoping everything passes through. For me it's the third time in a row that my luggage gets swabbed got extra screening.
I didn't think I give off the scary traveler vibe but? What do I know?
Anyways. One of the worst parts of being in the plane is the that washrooms. They are really quite tiny so "go before you go" is fairly typical.
Except the airport I'm leaving from, abbotsford, is undergoing renovations. That means the washroom is... Outside?
Going down a construction hall, outside to the tarmac area and using a porta potty. Not sure that is an upgrade from the plane washroom.
And then flight number one. Seat 19e.
The dreaded middle seat. I thought it was going to be pretty bad but luckily I had no one beside me. Hooray. And I even got to get the window seat.
And one hour later I'm in Calgary. Where I was for 7 hours (sigh)
Now 7 hours in an airport is a long time. Crowded and expensive but... We have a credit card that gives free lounge visits.
It's on the second floor so we get a good view of the airport
Comfy seating which is way better than the regular airport seats.
Decent washrooms, showers if you need them, a few daybeds (not nearly enough) but mostly... Food and drinks.
Spent a few hours here and had a free dinner. Nothing inspired by not bad either.
Soon though it will be time for the long flight to London. Ugh. On a middle seat again ugh ugh.
But some pictures of the airport before I leave it.
And yes. Absolutely possible to get some steps walking around the airport :)
And since activity is going to get confused with time and dates when I go to another time zone across the Pacific... I think I'll just post now while I still can.
7k steps is still post worthy :)
