One thing that I'm always looking forward to in my walks is doing random acts of kindness. My heart always goes out to the homeless and it breaks everytime I see them lie on the streets with no roof above their heads. Whenever I can, I try to help them in the best way I could. The world has been unkind to them, and I know I couldn't possibly make a difference. But for even a short period in their lives, I want them to experience kindness from a stranger.
Today, I saw an old man with sight problems carrying a heavy sack down the skywalk. I offered to help carry the sack down. He was talking to me but I couldn't make out what he said. The traffic enforcer saw what I did and she told me "He's okay, he's been doing that for a long time already." So, I then continued my morning walk.
Yesterday, I saw a dog chewing on the paper left from a fudgee bar. I thought the dog was hungry, so I bought the streetfood - tempura to feed to the dog. But when the tempura was cooked, I couldn't find him anymore. So I thought to give the tempura to a homeless man sleeping near the area.
I also enjoy seeing random acts of kindness. There was a man carrying random things on his trisikad and it toppled over the road. I looked back and wanted to help him but another random stranger already did. I then continued walking.
Of course, everything didn't exactly pan out all good as I'd like it to be. I experienced being catcalled for 3 times at least today. I wanted to fight back but I realized that it would just ruin my day. I've also thought of the perfect comeback to these catcallers next time. I'd let you in on the results when I can 😆
