Hello dear Actifit friends👋. I am a physician and I work in a hospital. Today I would like to share my workday with you. I hope you find it entertaining and enjoyable.
8:00 a.m🕗. The first patient is already waiting outside the consultation room door 🚪when I arrive. The day's list has thirty names on it, but we all know it'll be more. I lower the window blind, sigh, and call the first one in.
And so it went, non-stop. The clock on the wall seemed to mock me. 11:00 a.m. 🕚rolled around and I still hadn't been able to use the bathroom. My morning coffee ☕️sat untouched on my desk, cold and sad. Call after call, prescription after prescription. A chronic pain patient needing a medication adjustment; an anxious teenager who can barely speak; a man coming in for his biopsy results, and the knot in my stomach forming as I have to deliver the bad news.
Noon🕛 hit the waiting room like a bomb. The screen showed a forty-five minute delay. The patients' stares were a mix of resignation and anger😒😠.
At 3:00 p.m.🕒, finally, a breather🌬. The consultation room was empty. I took the chance to drink water straight from the bottle and stare out the window. Thirty seconds of peace. The phone rang☎️. It was the receptionist: "Doctor, we have a consult from the ER, and two walk-in patients just arrived."
The afternoon was an echo of the morning. More voices🗣, more aches, more prescriptions. At the end of the day, when the last patient left, I sat staring at the screen, eyes glazed over, finishing up the last reports.As I turned off the light, the nurse said, "Get some rest, doctor👩⚕️.
