On 29 October 1959, Asterix the Gaul was published for the first time. What initially appeared as a strip of small comics in a newspaper ended up becoming the best-selling and most famous French comic strip in history.
The story takes place in the year 50 BC in a small Gallic village that resists conquest by the legions led by Julius Caesar.
Characters such as Asterix, Obelix, Panoramix and Ideafix have remained in the memory of millions of fans for 63 years of history.
The parody and irony on modern stereotypes of French, Spanish, Belgians or Romans and their popular culture transferred to more than 2000 years ago have been able to catch and captivate the fans of this wonderful comic.
