I made a statement not long ago that I was going to share something but wanted to wait a bit longer... so here it goes.
Now, you might say "So what?" Well, I did it because I have a specific health situation I'm dealing with and I know it would help, but I was completely unprepared for the life-changing results it would bring. I've lost 25 pounds in the past six weeks, my nasal issues have disappeared after 50 years, my vision has improved dramatically, and my energy levels are better than they have been in more than 20, maybe 30 years. I am virtually never hungry, which is not like me at all. For breakfast I eat a sausage patty and one egg, and sometime around 2pm I decide to eat, maybe closer to 3pm. Even then I'm not starving, I just figure I should eat so that I'm not hungry closer to bedtime. I'm also more flexible and mentally focused, which might be due to what I will share next.
Most dramatically it seems my blood pressure has dropped from 145/90 to 116/73. I've had high blood pressure since I was in my mid-20s, and on medication since I was in my early 40s. I'm still leery about making a declaration that a permanent solution is found, but I haven't needed my BP meds for weeks and that's NEVER happened in my adult life.
Is it all about stopping with wheat? Is it some inflammatory response? Gluten issues? I don't have answers yet, I'm just enjoying being 70 and feeling like I'm 37.
My message? Try going off of all wheat for a few weeks and see if you experience something similar. It won't kill you, although the first week as I went through withdrawal I would have killed for some peanut butter toast. After that, I have no cravings for any carbs and my wife can set a box of cookies on the table and I have no interest in them, nada, zero. This is NOT like any diet I've ever been on, I have absolutely no cravings or interest in carbs at all, although I have eaten some rice on a couple of occasions.
Ok, so there it is. Let me know what you think or if you decide to give it a try to see how it might affect you!!
