Today started with another 4 AM wake up! I'm almost through my second week of this new habit, and I'm getting more acclimated every day. I'm also seeing some results! I'm wheezing for only 10 minutes instead of 12 minutes after climbing the 5 flights of stairs to my classroom.
After my walk I took a quick shower and got dressed. When I finally arrived at work I was pleasantly surprised to find that today was Wai Kru. Students greeted us at the door with a bouquet of flowers and an apple.
Wai Kru is a Thai ritual where students pay respect and gratitude to teachers and formalize the teacher student relationship. It usually takes place in the school auditorium and is a HUGE ceremony that involves the whole school. Due to COVID restrictions it was limited to a school-wide video played during lunch.
