Once, a penguin got caught in the net of a Japanese fishing trawler in the Pacific Ocean. The fisherman quickly caught the penguin and freed it. But for some strange reason, the penguin would not leave. Even though it was chased away, it kept coming back. Finding no other way, the fisherman brought the penguin home with him.
A separate room was arranged for the penguin to live in. Special air conditioning was arranged for it so that it would not survive in the excessive heat. The fisherman's family adopted the penguin like their own son, lovingly naming it 'La La'.
The most interesting thing was that La La would roam around the entire neighborhood like a human child. The locals also treated him as one of their own. The cutest thing was that every day he would go out to patrol the neighborhood with a backpack on his back. Every day, he would go to the local fish shop and the shopkeeper would feed him a fish and put some more in his backpack! Lala died in 1998.
