The one and only. Rundle Mountain as seen from the parking lot at Banff Hot Springs.
Rundle is such an immense mountain. Spanning all the way from Canmore to Banff. And, i learned today that it was once prehistoric ocean floor. It is a classic fault thrust mountain.
This mountain claims it's name today as Rundle because of Reverend Robert Rundle. A Methodist missionary who visited the Stoney Nakota people during the 1840's.
I wonder what name the Stoney Nakota and other locals at the time called this deeply charming expression of Mother Earth?
This is mountain is now called Tunnel mountain. At first the railway was to go through the mountain. But, gladly the train was routed to go around the mountain. This mountain was known as Sleeping Turtle to the local people of this region. I like their name better. 🐢
Here's a little glimpse of the beginning and end of my recent adventures to Emerald Lake.
The photos were taken at the beginning of the trip. And, i learned the info shared above by stopping at a sight seeing pull out just west of Banff.
