So you think the coldest air mass on the planet over my province is gonna keep me indoors?! You don’t know me very well!
The high in this small Canadian town reached a balmy -12 Celsius and it is forecasted to hit -25 tonight but Thursdays are my 10k steps days so let’s GO!
The good news about really cold temps is that there is usually a relief in the snow and the sky clears more. Looks like a nice day from where you might be sitting but that sun holds little warmth.
When the temperature drops so far below freezing so consistently, any snow tends to pile up as none can melt. The snowbanks are reaching respectable heights and some of the heavy diesel vehicles are forced to have a rest as the fuel turns to gel.
No matter how damn cold it gets, you will always see the smokers out doing their thing. Some of them apparently are not bright enough to dress appropriately.
The old buildings stand tall but I am a little concerned for their eaves when those icicles can get over 100 pounds pulling down.
I had to pull over on the highway to get a shot of poor mater in his field as the snowbanks were over 6 feet.
I will cap these 10k+ steps in the frigid north with a shot from the steps of city hall looking north. Apparently there is a shortage of salt up here with such incessant snow since November. Sidewalks are almost as tricky as the roads but we are prepared for it as northmen!
Thanks for joining me for too many steps in the too cold as I trek tirelessly toward the top 250 users in history!
