It was news delivery day which means, no matter the weather, I blast 10k steps connecting the community with local news. More a labour of love than a profitable venture but -11 Celsius makes it a little more laborious.
Not too sunny at daybreak this morning but probably enjoyable to look on when you habs w a blockchain between you and this winter.
The sun holds little warmth this time of season but it is great seeing it try and fight through the clouds.
When it does, it shines light on quite the amount of piled snow!
With temperatures well below freezing for 3 solid weeks, the snow has nowhere to go and piles up with each flurry.
Some snowbanks are shaped rather oddly…
Because there are cars beneath them! This is actually a friend’s car that sat a little too long while he used a company car.
I have another couple of my series ‘Couriers parking in Traffic ‘ to add to the silliness.
This one is a double shot as a second delivery van pulled up, right in the middle of a lane on Main Street, even blocking cars parked properly. There was an open spot just up a couple car lengths.
Most fun than silly, I came across this fine fella very involved in turning this snowbank into a sculpture. He seemed really into it and enjoyed the compliments on his efforts.
Today, it actually got up to about -5 which is warm enough for the salt on the roads to do its melting job. Almost strange to see clear pavement after the last month.
From my weekly perch on the steps of city hall, you can see there is still plenty of snow and I am starting to dream of spring and summer from this vantage point.
Thanks for joining me for 10k more steps in the dead of winter way up north.
