Meng Bo really wanted to cook meat that her mother liked. However, due to his old age, his mother's teeth were no longer able to chew meat.
Meng Bo then thought about how to cook soft meat so that his mother could eat it. He suddenly remembered a soft snack like mochi made from sticky rice and ground until smooth.
From there Meng Bo got into action. He pounded the tough meat, then formed small rounds to make it easier to enjoy and eat with warm broth. Apparently, Meng Bo's cooking is very delicious.
Meng Bo's story and recipe for meatball soon spread throughout the city. People came out of curiosity and wanted to learn the recipe for the famously delicious ground beef in soup.
Meatballs, aka ground beef, have become one of the favorite foods of the Chinese people and have continued to grow from generation to generation. Until finally, this type of culinary delights reached the archipelago, brought by immigrants from their home country, China.

Dari situlah Meng Bo kemudian beraksi. Daging yang alot ditumbuknya, kemudian dibentuk bulat-bulat kecil agar lebih mudah dinikmati dan disantap bersama kuah kaldu hangat. Ternyata, masakan buatan Meng Bo ini sangat lezat.
Kisah Meng Bo dan resep baksonya segera tersebar luas ke seluruh penjuru kota. Orang-orang berdatangan karena penasaran dan ingin mempelajari resep daging giling berkuah yang terkenal nikmatnya itu.
Bakso alias daging giling pun menjadi salah satu makanan favorit masyarakat Cina dan terus berkembang secara turun-temurun. Hingga akhirnya, jenis kuliner ini sampai ke Nusantara, dibawa oleh kaum imigran dari negeri asalnya, Cina.
