Alec Benjamin is a multimillionaire now, he writes his own songs, sings them and acts too. But all that success was not easy for him. Even with where he is now Alec Benjamin stays humble and even goes on the streets to sing for strangers sometimes. He always likes to mention "That's where I started ".
In 1994 Benjamin was born in Phoenix, Arizona USA. His early life was riddled with social anxiety and OCD issues. He was the quiet kid at School. From his songs we get to know that he had several heartbreaks. He mentions in a song how thankful he is to his loving sister who helped him survive at those times.
His song " We have each other" is dedicated to his sister.
Somewhere in 2017 Benjamin signed a contract with Columbia Studios. But few months after he submitted his first Album to the company, Columbia Records cancelled his contract.
Benjamin had to still go through his planned European Tour which was already scheduled. He did so with his own money to avoid disappointing his fans.
After the Columbia Records cancellation he was devastated but he focused hard and kept going with his song writing.He went out on the streets and sang for strangers gaining their attention and handed out his business card. One by one he was growing his fan base.
He then wrote and brought out another song called "Paper Crown" which became an overnight hit with millions of views online.
Later he wrote a song called "The water fountain " which turned out to be another superb hit and then the rest is history. The song "Let me down slowly" was on top 10 in several countries.
Benjamin has mentioned that his favorite singers are Eminem, John Mayer and Chris Martin. He learnt guitar from his father who played it only as a hobby. Other than that Benjamin had no other musical influence or famous persons from his family.
My favorite songs of his are "I built a friend " a calm soothing song and if you like more pop feel then try "Devil doesn't bargain".
Fun fact : Benjamin is a black belt holder in karate.
