Happy Easter! These are the top 3 albums you should look out for tomorrow:
Riley Walker - Course in Fable
Riley Walker is maybe still not a household name like Cass McCombs or Kevin Morby, but this album could easily be the break for him. The single Axis Bent definitely has my hopes up with its warm analog feel. The songwriting is very strong and I feel this could easily be a stoned Paul Simon if he was into prog-rock. If you're into indie rock this should have your attention.
Ryley Walker - Course In Fable is out April 2 on Husky Pants.
Flock of Dimes - Head Of Roses
Flock of Dimes is Jenn Wasner. She is also one half of the indie duo Wye Oak. The single here One More Hour is just wonderfully produced. Simple, but beautifully constructed - the various vocal FX and backing voices provide whatever production value one would crave. The result is calm, soothing, and seductive. I can't wait to hear the whole album.
Flock of Dimes - Head Of Roses is out April 2 on Sub Pop.
Bryce Dessner & Australian String Quartet
It's always fun to hear different takes on the string quartet. Here it's Bryce Dessner writing for The Australian String Quartet. Bryce is most known for being the guitarist in The National, but has composed quite a lot of works for strings and has worked with Kronos Quartet as well. Here it's for a dance production - it suits him well since his style seems heavily influenced by folk tradition.
Bryce Dessner & Australian String Quartet - Impermanence/Disintegration is out April 2 on 37d03d.
Please feel free to comment if you have any other albums you're looking forward to!
