The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, by Genesis
It was to be the last album of the band with Peter Gabriel as a band member, who had significantly shaped the musical style of Genesis before.
"The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" is a concept album, a artform that was very popular among progressive musicians in those days, meaning that it tells a story that is continued throughout the songs, often without pauses between the titles. This is also partly the case in this album.
The story is... pretty weird, to say the least. And the music is super complicated - even a lot of classical music sounds like simple pop music in comparison. A fact that sure didn't help the commercial success of the album. It took 16 years to reach the 500,000 sold copies needed for the "Golden Record" award.
