First of all I have been slacking off my TTT responsibilities over the last 2 / 3 weeks. If can let me know the winners over the last 3 weeks I shall throw in the HBI into their accounts as soon as I get some rewards. I have been busy with work and life admin to properly curate so apologies but I will get the HBI into your account this week.
I did U2 last week and for a band I sit on the fence with , I have to admire Bono. While I was looking up Tiny Desk I always find myself in the Australian Like A Version Youtube channel as well which feature famous or up and coming talented artists perform a cover song of their choice. I watched a good few of these but there was one song in my recommended videos all the time and I never watched it until last week. The song covers the famous 80s classic song Africa by Toto. My first impression before I heard it was to leave the song alone. Also I heard of David Winnel and he is famous for his tech music so I was expecting a massacre. But as they say on website tabloid pages for clicks : What happened next was amazing.
Dave Winnel Covers TOTO Africa
So Dave wen off and put his stamp on it but kept with the fundamentals of the song. The melody to Africa is excellent and Dave just tweaked it to bring it into the 21st century. I was actually blown away by this version. It's nice to watch the video because around the 3rd minute , the band members knew they nailed it and their smiles could tell it all. They were all in the zone. Really good version this.
Alice Ivy Covers How Bizarre
For some reason if anyone asks me what I would like to play at an open mic in a put, I would always say "How Bizarre" by one hit wonders OMC. In fact somebody told me the whole album that the global hit How Bizarre is on is a quality album. I have always like this song but for some reason alot of people my age look more fondly on the song now than back then. I have always loved the starting guitar loop which is quite easy to play on the guitar whether it is acoustic or electric, And I always had a penchant for white lads trying to rap. To top it all off there is a ninja in the car sitting in the back seat which I always found hilarious as it was cramping the lead singers style. Alice Ivy does a great fun version of it on Like A Version
Aurora Covers Massive Attack Teardrop
I was always into elfish music such as Sigur Ros and the like and I am fascinated by Aurora's not of this world voice which gives me the shivers. Teardrop is a song made for a singer like her and she does some job on it. This one is unreal. The talent here is unbelievable. Aurora is not of this world.
So there it is for Tuesday. Thanks to for building up the community. Where is the ttt community buddy? What's the hold up. 3 HIve is all. Be the right job. Some say if you reach 10000 HP and don't have a community yet then you are doing it wrong! I was up in your neck of the woods last week by the way meeting the brother in law who lives there.. I was in some nice Italian restaurant called Il Vicole and had a few pints in the Latin quarters. Some spot. You are lucky out to live there. Next time I am up there I will give you a bell.
