Being the father of 2 small children and trying not to transform into embarrassing dad is the ultimate struggle. On top of that there is a pressure on me to ensure the two offspring have the best taste in music which is one of the greatest gifts that a father can bestow on a child. I tried my best with Child Number 1 but after asking me to add the Spice Girls to her playlist, the 6 year olds ship has sailed until she comes back to me when she's 13 and wants to be retro. The 2 year old is different. The mistakes that were made with the oldest are lessons learnt for this one so I was inclined to start him off as a baby listening to the good stuff. So instead of the normal mobile lullaby music such as Mozart or Beethoven, that aul shite. I kitted the nursery out with a Sonos and made the ultimate nursery playlist.
Now this playlist wasn't just for child but it was for daddy as well. Listening to lullabies of your favourite artists is pretty dam relaxing while feeding them their bobbys. 2 years later and the child looks to be into good music although the nanny has bestowed Abba upon him but I don't mind them.
Now the reason why I am writing this post this week is the new TV series The Last of Us. In the latest episode which was creepy out, two kids jumped on an old carrousel in a Shopping Centre. While I was preparing myself for the old inevitable disembowlment of a teenager, I heard a little tune that reminded me of that magical time (not at the time) when I was feeding the newborn

Having the old Beatles infatuation like most lads my ages I had to include a few of these in my playlist so I went with Dear Prudence. I remember at the time I used to be always volunteering to do the night feed to get in a few lullabies. When I went to work I would research any good ones and add them to the playlist to play them that night.

Now I wanted to leave the child know I was down with the hood so I added a few rap songs to make sure the baby would have a bit of an edge (or schizzle) to him. So this was the best one. Always makes me smile. I have only a small shelf life to listen to modern day lullabies before the baby gets too old but I have enjoyed my lullaby journey and I hope you have too.
So that's all from me this week. might get a bit brudy after this and be onto the wife around having another one so he can get his lullaby on. Until next week lullabiers.
