Hey everybody, I am participating in a Three Tune Tuesday this week, and boy do I have some bangers for you! ððķ Today I'm going to be sharing some nostalgic R&B beats from the early 2000s -- a truly pivotal moment in music history. So sit back, relax, and get ready to grooove~
The first song that I have for you is La La La La (great title, but it IS how I found it LOL) by Jay-Z. If you have ever watched the Bad Boyz movies starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, then you may be familiar with this one.
I love this song for a number of reasons, but the decrescendo piano melody is my absolute favorite part -- ðĐ used to drive me insaane.
Of course the "excuse me, misss" and Jay-Z's patented use of "son."
And who could forget these golden lines:
"Now I ain't down with who like me or who like you
"That's gay, I ain't into liking dudes, no way"
This next one is from Missy Elliott, who I need to give a quick shout out to, for being the OG baddie -- Missy was a lady who TRULY did NOT give a frig! ðĪŠ
Honestly, I would put Under Construction in the list of the most influential records of my life; my sister and I grew up listening to this album.
There are tons of great singles (like Work It ) but today I'm talking about Gossip Folks. A great song with a great message -- mind yo bizness! ðĨī
The chorus is my favorite part (Hilzoo?! ð), and little Alison Stoner, the acclaimed child dancer in Work It, is in this music video, too!
Our final song is Stutter by Joe (yes, just Joe. Not FAT Joe, or J-Low -- just Joe!), and this is actually a remix of the song Passin' Me By by Pharcyde.
Another favorite from my childhood -- to this day, I still recite the "my dear my dear my dear" like a maniac! ðĨī And "you're ticking me off, t-t-ticking me off!"
The rap part by Mystikal is amazing ð He ain't no Busta Rhymes, but I can totally respect his game.
