It is with absolute shock and disbelief that I come to terms with and attempt to honour the passing of this utterly phenomenal woman.
She said the ultimate "fuck you" to social norms as she belted out dramatic and emotional songs with her iconic shaved head. And absolutely beautiful woman and a total inspiration to women world wide that conforming was not only unnecessary, not doing so vital to standing out and sending a true and genuine message in music.
She was unapologetically different and a strong activist and philanthropist. It takes an incredible woman to move the mountains she did, and although her death has not yet been clarified, there is no doubt in my mind that mental health played a role.
May we never forget the strides she took to pave the way for female musicians and let us honour her profound contribution to music.
Jasper and I performed a cover of a cover a while ago, under the circumstances, I'd love to record it again, but for now, here's Jackie, covered by us, placebo and originally written by Sinéad O'Connor herself.
May you rest in peace and sing with the angels.
