Brooklyn Bridge - Spring 2007 - my own pic
Hello Hivers and music lovers!
Today is Tuesday, that day that has become the day when we in the Hive discover new tunes or listen to some that we haven't listened to for a while, and all thanks to the cool initiative #threetunetuesday or #ttt hosted by .
And what is it the #ttt about? In the words of Ablaze:
The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #ttt or #threetunetuesday tags that would be great. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.
So to even find out more go and check his recommendations for the fifty-three week's ttt.
And today, I'm off to New York City to choose my tunes, which are three of the songs included in the latest album by the American band The Strokes.
This band was formed at the end of the 90s, and I remember at the beginning of the millennium, I used to listen to them from time to time, then I lost track of them. Until last year when my son, who you know is a great lover of music of all times, surprised me by playing in the car one of the songs from the album that the band released in 2020 called The New Abnormal.
My son came across the album by chance, and because the album's cover uses the work Bird On Money by the late New York artist Basquiat whose works sell for billions of dollars.
So let's go with my three tunes for today.
Tune No.1 Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus - The Strokes
From what I've read, this was one of the singles with which the band promoted the album.
One shot is never enough
I just wait for us to go in circles
A lifetime of giving my all for you
Hostile, give me a break
Two sips from my bottle and chill
And first he would tell me I'm his friend
Actually no thanks, I'm okay
Then he would send weird looks my way
Tune No.2 Selfless - The Strokes
I like the whole album, but I love this song. It's so melancholic.
Can the dark side light my way out? Yeah
Lay your hand across my face, yeah
Time we lost, that's all my fault
Please don't be long
'Cause I want your love
I don't have love
Without your arm
Life is too short
But I will live for you
Tune No.3 Ode To The Mets - The Strokes
The third is the song that closes the album. And although its name refers to the baseball team The Mets. According to vocalist Casablancas and leader of the band, although he wrote the song while waiting on the subway platform after the Mets lost a game, the song is not about baseball. It evokes in his own words “something that you set your heart to and that you love unconditionally but that continues to disappoint you”
Up on his horse, up on his horse
Not gonna wake up here anymore
Listen one time, it's not the truth
It's just a story, I tell to you
Easy to say, easy to do
But it's not easy, well, maybe for you
Hope that you find it, hope that it's good
Hope that you read it, think that you should
Cuts you some slack as he sits back
Sizes you up, plans his attack
Ah-da-da
Drums please, Fab
This is my selection today from the album The New Abnormal by The Strokes. It was hard to choose only three songs. As a curious thing, this album seems to me fabulous from beginning to end. And if you like my selection of the three tunes, I encourage you to give the whole album a go.
If you have made it this far, thank you very much for reading!
Enjoy the music, enjoy life!
